What I have done for Kanata South over the years
As one of the few 4-term Councillors in City of Ottawa history, here is a list of accomplishments and projects that I have proudly completed for Kanata South over the years.
Fourth Term of Council (2022-2026)
Pathways – Beaufort Park (from Beaufort Dr. to Katimavik Rd), Laurie Crt. to Sheldrake, Laurie Crt. to Castlefrank, Laurie Crt. to Binscarth, Paths in Laura Dubois Park (from Shetland to TCT)
Sidewalks- Chimo Dr. (Anik Way to Katimavik), Carbrooke St. Eagleson (from Kincardine to Edgewater), Grassy Plains, Rothesay, New sidewalks on Kakulu, Sidewalk renewals on both sides of Morton Dr., Michael Cowpland Dr.
Red light camera installed at Terry Fox and Hazeldean
Roads Resurfacing - Carbrooke St., resurfacing of Equestrian Dr. (from Pommel to Pommel), Eagleson road resurfacing (from Kincardine to Edgewater), Vanstone, Belleview, Marcasite, Pineview, Irwin Gate, Rickey Pl, $1.1 million to resurface McCurdy between Castlefrank Rd. N and Castlefrank Rd. S
New PXO’s installed at Caslefrank Rd. at Sheldrake N, Rickey Pl. between McKitrick & McElroy, Rothesay Dr., Grassy Plains Dr.
Cope Dr. PXO $130,000 investment– upgrade to Type B- with flashing beacons
$300,000 invested in Temporary Traffic Calming
Parks – Grassy Plains Park, Shelleright Park, Monticello Park, Expansion to Proudmore- Romina Park (including new Tennis- Pickleball courts, toboggan hill, outdoor fitness area), Bluegrass Park redevelopment (addition of 3 Pickleball courts and new paths and benches, Park renewal at Stonemeadow Park, Playground replacement at Meadowbreeze Park,
Have implemented 3- stream garbage/recycling into 6 of our parks with more coming
Worked with all levels of govt. to secure $4.5 million investment for upgrades to the Tony Graham Recreation Complex.
$520,000 Renewal work at Eva James C.C. including replacement of 4 HVAC systems
$910,000 to replace roof at the Glen Cairn C.C.
$500,000 expansion to the splash pad at Tony Graham Park
Brought in outside sponsorship to construct a permanent outdoor stage at Tony Graham Park for community groups to use.
8 new bus pads, 2 new shelters, accessible bus stop landing pad at Bridgestone and Foxhall Way, transit priority measures incorporated at the intersection of Katimavik Rd. and Terry Fox Dr.
Housing - $1.4 million for the Shepherds of Good Hope to provide eight additional supportive housing units in their Hope Living building at 145 Castlefrank Road
230,000 to resurface the parking lot at Fire Station 41

Parks – Opened 2 Butterfly gardens, renewal of Stonegate Park, Cattail Creek Tennis Courts, Renewal of Beaton Park, New play structure at Mattawa Park and Park renewal at Appaloosa Park and J.J. Clarke Park.
Sponsored free yoga in the park during the summer months
LED Lighting at Stonegate Park
$490,000 to renew Hope Cloutier Bridge (erosion repairs)
Roads - Resurfacing of Hope Side Road and left turn lane to Crownridge added
Resurfacing of Eagleson between Emerald Meadows & Fernbank, Castlefrank between Hazeldean & Torcastle and Edgewater St., Resurfacing on Terry Fox between Castlefrank & Hazeldean
Parking lot at Kanata Recreation Complex resurfaced ($920, 000 investment)
$51 million dollars to build the Kanata South Link between Hope Side Road and Hwy 416- Includes cycling infrastructure and roundabouts
$200,000 invested in Temporary Traffic Calming
$990,000 to replace bridge culvert at Emerald Meadows Drive
$280,000 to improve drainage on Vanstone Dr.
New traffic lights installed at intersection of Eagleson/Emerald Meadows/Romina, Fernbank at Templeford
Hazeldean/Carbrooke/ Irwin Gate intersection improvements- protected intersection
Red Light Camera installed at Eagleson Rd. and Cope Dr.
Community Safety Zone implemented at Castlefrank & Kakulu
Installed one of the first provincial Speed Enforcement cameras in school zones on Katimavik Road
Sidewalk Renewal - Castlefrank between Hazeldean & Katimavik and Castlefrank between Glamorgan Dr & Winchester, McCurdy Dr. (north side), Curran Sr. Davis Ave., Sewell Way, New Sidewalk addition on Castlefrank between Torcastle and Winchester, Grassy Plains, McGibbon
PXO’s added at Meadowbreeze and Crownridge, Stonehaven Dr, Grassy Plains, McCurdy Dr., Equestrian Dr. (at Pony Park)
Pathways- Multi-Use Pathway between Liston and McCurdy, pathway link between Parsons Ridge and McLennan Way, Dorey Park Multi-Use Pathway, New Pathway along Katimavik Road between McGibbon and Davis
New Stop signs – Cope Dr., Lombardo Dr., Pine Hill Dr., Meadowbreeze st Grassy Plains and Crownridge at Meadowbreeze, Spur

Public consultation for Kanata South Link (widening of Old Richmond and Hunt Club to the 416- phase 2, widening of Hope Side Road)
Implementation of PXO program – 3 locations in yr 1- Bridgestone, Cope & Pine Hill
Glen Cairn Pumping Station upgrades
Bridgestone mini-roundabout – first in the city
$120,000 invested in Temporary Traffic Calming (3yrs)
Monahan Stormwater Pond Retrofit- critical work to protect Bridlewood and Trailwest from flooding.
Road Renewals - McKitrick Road Renewal from Rickey Pl. to E of Sumner St., Repaving of Palomino Drive,
Regrading and storm sewar work completed on Dundegan
Sidewalk rehabilitation - Winchester Dr., Castlefrank from Hazeldean to Abbeyhill,
Pathways- Akerson Multi-Use Pathway linking Trailwest to Bridlewood, Completed Larsen Linear Pathway,
Parks- Romina Park, Crownridge Park, Maplewood Park, Tokessy Diamond, new scoreboard & dugout roofs, addition of 3 outdoor fitness parks, brought in outside sponsorship to build Meadowbreeze rink
Rehabilitation of Young’s Pond Park- new pond liner & installation of a new well and circulation system, new bunker for rink equipment
OCT- Added trips to route 66, larger buses onto PM express routes and adjusted timing of PM peak routes as per your feedback so that there was more spacing between PM trips leaving Hurdman Stn.
Additional weekend service to 3 routes and added new community route 168
Addition of 9 new & improvements to 19 OC Transpo bus pads, 7 new bus shelters and added parking spaces to Eagleson Park n Ride.

Doubled number of articulated buses on KS express routes

New roundabout on Stonehaven at Bridgestone to improve congestion on Stonehaven Rd.
Extension of SB right turning lane at intersection of Eagleson and Fernbank
Piloted first Temporary Traffic Calming measures in the city.
Installed Inlet Control Devices to address flooding
Voted against Bi-weekly garbage
Major upgrades to the hydro delivery systems for our area to ensure before new homes are added to the system we have a stable supply for existing residents.
New lights and improvements to intersection of Cope and Terry Fox
Storm and sanitary improvements ensure a stable clean supply of drinking water.
Parks - Secured $500,000 in additional funding for Kristina Kiss Park, Planning for Romina Park in Bridlewood Trails, Initial planning for improvements to Stonegate Park
Renewal of Rickey Place Park, Ravine Park
Sidewalk rehabilitation: Katimavik NB, NW corner of Cadence Gate, TCT sidewalk (from TF to Eagleson), Eagleson PnR
Pathway rehabilitation: Trailwest Hydro Corridor pathway
Roof replacement at Hazeldean Library
